Kim Chiu’s father visits Lakam in jail

The father of Kim Chiu, William Chiu Jr., visited his daughter, Lakambini “Lakam” Chiu, who is now detained at the Kamuning Police Station custodial facility in Quezon City for 124 counts of qualified theft, which reportedly stemmed from her alleged involvement in the supposed P44.4 million financial discrepancies in their business, House of Little Bunny Philippines.

Accompanied by some friends, Chiu’s father visited Lakam last 22 September, where he said in an interview that they are having difficulty raising the full amount of bail even if it was reduced to P5.6 million from P5.8 million. He said that aside from their family, there are other people who are helping them raise the amount they need for Lakam’s temporary liberty.

Lakam’s legal counsel, Atty. Dominic Solis, said they are working to post a surety bond amounting to P2.9 million and are already preparing the necessary documents for the procedure.

Dennis Trillo draws flak

for taking swipe at ‘Sigabo’

Netizens believed Dennis Trillo took a swipe at Coco Martin’s Sigabo when he shared on his Facebook account a video clip from the taping of his new action series.

His caption, “Hindi pa uso ang AI sa Tundo,” was taken to mean he is lambasting Martin’s show, Sigabo, which reportedly used artificial intelligence in a few action scenes.

Netizens were aghast at Trillo’s audacity to take a swipe at Martin’s show.

“‘Yung SIGABO ni COCO papunta pa lang sa EXCITING PART, ‘yung palabas nyo ‘ANG HULING DALAWANG LINGGO NA’(Coco’s Sigabo is on its way to the exciting part; your show is on its last two weeks),” one fan wailed.

“Kahit totoo ‘yun, dapat di na siya bumaba sa ganyang level. Mas mabuting tao pa si Dingdong, sila magkatapat pero never nagpaparinig si Dingdong (Even if it’s true, he should not have stooped down to that level. Dingdong is a better person; they’re the ones who are rivals, but Dingdong never threw shades),” another Coco Martin fan wrote.

Trying to parry Trillo’s bashers, one fan explained: “Huwag niyo po gawan ng issue. Ni-screenshot niyo lang ‘yung reply ni Dennis pero wala naman doon ‘yung buong context. Nakita ko ‘yan sa post niya sa IG. May nag-comment kasi doon na AI naman daw ‘yung post niya na scene. Kaya nagreply lang si Dennis na hindi uso ang AI sa Tondo. Issue naman kasi itong news mo, clickbait din eh (Don’t make an issue. You just made a screenshot of Dennis’ reply, but the context is not there. I saw his post on IG. There was a comment there that his posted scene was AI. That’s why Dennis replied that AI is not a trend in Tondo. This news is the issue because it’s also clickbait).”

Joshua, Julia challenge love, destiny and time in ‘Always Yours, Never Mine’

What if love could find its way through time and between different versions of who we are? Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto star in a sweeping love story with unexpected versions of themselves in Always Yours, Never Mine, opening in local cinemas on 30 September (Wednesday).

Joshua and Julia play Apollo and Luna, respectively, in the latest Star Cinema movie directed by Cathy Garcia-Sampana.

The film, with a screenplay by Vanessa R. Valdez, is a romantic drama that explores the limits of love, time and destiny as Apollo and Luna’s lives unfold across three decades.

“‘Yung kwento po kasi ng (The story of) Always Yours, Never Mine, it spans 30 years, that’s why you’ll see the characters of Apollo and Luna in different stages and seasons of their lives. Ang magandang matatanong mo sa sarili mo kapag pinanood mo ang pelikulang ito: ‘Sa pagmamahal ko ba sa isang tao, napigilan ko siya na maging kung sino siya talaga dapat maging (The beautiful question you can ask yourself when you watch this movie is: ‘In loving someone, do you prevent him from becoming who he is truly meant to be)?” shared Valdez.

“I don’t think this is just a love story; it’s actually a life story. It’s about how we love our lives, the choices we make, and even the choices we don’t make,” she added.

Always Yours, Never Mine also stars Bianca Umali, Chandra Romero, Joy Barcoma, Bob Jbeili, Karen Reyes, Migs Almendras, Paulo Angeles and Joy Barcoma.

The film will be shown worldwide, with screenings in UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Australia and New Zealand starting on 22 October; US, Canada and Guam on 23 October; UK and Austria on 31 October; and Spain, France and Italy on 1 November.

It will also have a European premiere with a meet-and-greet session with Joshua and Julia in the UK at the Genesis Cinema London on 31 October, with screenings at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Another premiere and meet-and-greet session with JoshLia will happen in Madrid, Spain, at the Palacio de la Prensa Cinema on 1 November, with 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. screenings.
