Jolina Magdangal, Marvin Agustin bring MarJo magic to ‘Mommy Guard’

More than two decades after becoming one of Philippine entertainment’s most beloved screen tandems, Jolina Magdangal and Marvin Agustin are proving that the connection audiences embraced years ago can grow along with them.

The longtime partners are reuniting for Mommy Guard, an upcoming TV5 project that will introduce viewers to new characters while carrying the unmistakable chemistry that made “MarJo” a favorite among fans.

For Jolina, seeing people remain excited about her partnership with Marvin continues to bring her happiness. At the same time, she believes their tandem should reflect how both they and their audience have changed through the years.

“Natutuwa ako na kapag nakikita nila ’yung Marvin-Jolina, ’yung MarJo, talagang nandoon ’yung saya sa puso nila,” Jolina shared.

While she and Marvin value the nostalgia surrounding their partnership, Jolina said they also want audiences to recognize that their onscreen relationship has evolved.

“Siyempre ayaw naming mawala ’yon ni Marvin, pero gusto rin naming iparamdam sa mga nanunood na ang aming samahan ay napapanahon. Kung baga, nag-e-evolve din,” she explained.

That evolution becomes particularly meaningful as longtime supporters who once followed their youthful romantic projects have also entered different stages of their own lives. Jolina hopes the stories she and Marvin tell today can remain relatable to the same viewers who have stayed with them through the years.

“Kung ano man ’yung mga puwede nilang ika-relate sa amin ni Marvin, napapanahon din kaya nandito pa rin kami hanggang ngayon,” she said.

Their return in Mommy Guard therefore promises something beyond nostalgia. Instead of simply recreating the MarJo moments audiences remember, the new project gives Jolina and Marvin an opportunity to take their familiar chemistry into a different story suited to where they are today.

Jolina also expressed gratitude to the supporters who have continued to embrace their tandem across generations.

“Sobra kaming thankful sa lahat ng sumuporta, sumusuporta, at susuporta dahil mapapanood itong Mommy Guard,” she added.
