AFAB, Freeport company train 28 beneficiaries on sewing

The Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) and the Dong In Sunbirds Corp. trained 28 individuals as part of the third batch of the 7-Day Free Sewing Course inside the Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB) in Mariveles, Bataan on 14 September 2026.

The 7-Day Free Sewing Course is part of the Skills Development Program of the AFAB and Dong In that aims to train beneficiaries on sewing, while providing allowance to the said participants.

The training also prepares the 28 beneficiaries a slot to work at the Dong In Sunbirds Corp. where they could utilize the skills they learned from the Skills Development Program.

According to AFAB, the agency will continue to provide these kinds of skills training program that aim to develop the skills of the workers and create more opportunities for employment in the community.

AFAB has been conducting training such as this as part of its workforce development efforts. These trainings are in close collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and Dong-In Sunbirds Corp., with the first batch launched in April of this year.

A key feature of this initiative is its direct employment pathway. Upon evaluation, qualified trainees may be considered for immediate hiring by Dong In Sunbirds Corp., reinforcing AFAB’s commitment to linking skills development with actual job opportunities.

Additional batches are expected to further expand and sustain this initiative, providing more beneficiaries with access to skills training and employment opportunities.

Through this collaboration, government support programs are effectively linked with industry partners, promoting inclusive growth and expanding access to career opportunities for the community.
