NBI, Kabankalan City decentralize clearance processing

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) opened a new clearance center in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, Wednesday as part of efforts to expand access to government services across the Negros Island Region.

NBI Negros Island Region director Jose Arnie Monsanto led the opening ceremony alongside local officials, including Kabankalan City Mayor Benjie Miranda and Vice Mayor Divina Gracia Miranda.

The new facility aims to decentralize operations and shorten processing times for residents of Kabankalan City and neighboring municipalities seeking official background checks.

An NBI clearance certifies whether an individual has pending criminal charges or prior convictions in the Philippines.

Bureau officials stated the center reflects a shared commitment with local leadership to improve public service efficiency and strengthen inter-agency cooperation.
