DepEd rollout targets Pakil schools’ learning continuity
‘This is life-changing for our students and teachers, especially during times of calamity.’
Education Secretary Sonny Angara led the ceremonial launch of a private-public partnership aimed at providing reliable internet access to public schools across Pakil, Laguna.
The initiative — formalized through a memorandum of agreement among the Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division Office of Laguna, Prime Infra Foundation, and Ahunan Power — supports government efforts to widen student access to digital learning tools and build educational resilience during weather disruptions.
Speaking during the launch at Cornelio C. Dalena Elementary School, Angara stressed the role of connectivity in maintaining learning continuity, noting that severe weather incidents have caused students in some divisions to miss up to 50 class days in a school year.
“This is life-changing for our students and teachers, especially during times of calamity,” Angara said. “It will further motivate our students, our teachers, and our community.”
The signing event was attended by DepEd Region IV-A regional director Carlito Rocafort, DepEd Laguna assistant division superintendent Buddy Repia, Prime Infra Foundation director Donato Almeda, Ahunan Power president and CEO Noel Gonzales and Pakil Mayor Ronald Hidalgo.
