Go aids Banga survivor, victims’ families

Senator Christopher “Bong” Go extended assistance to the family of 14-year-old Bryan Ezek Pamonag, who has been hailed as a “living hero” for his actions during the 18 September shooting at Banga National High School in Banga, South Cotabato.

Go spoke with Bryan and his parents through a video call to check on the young survivor and assure the family of continued support.

“Despite his young age, Bryan showed courage and concern for his companions. He is proof that amid fear and danger, there are young people willing to help and care for others,” he said.

Through his Malasakit Team, Go provided financial assistance to Bryan’s family, along with grocery packs, shirts, jackets, a watch, basketballs and volleyballs.

He condemned the attack, expressed condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the recovery of the wounded students and those traumatized by the incident.

“It is painful to think that children who go to school to learn and dream may be put in danger because of this kind of violence. Such incidents should not become normal,” Go said.

The 18 September shooting left three students dead, including the teenage assailant, and eight others wounded, according to authorities. Two student victims initially wounded in the attack later died of their injuries. The assailant died after turning the firearm on himself.

The shooting occurred at about 1 p.m. during the school day. The Grade 9 student allegedly entered a classroom and opened fire on fellow students before moving through the area and continuing the attack.
