LANAO DEL NORTE —- Security forces placed troops on high alert and reinforced local security detachments following a Saturday morning clash that left seven militant group members dead in Tugunan town.

The Joint Task Force Central and the Police Regional Office–Bangsamoro Autonomous Region deployed additional patrols across Barangays Manaulanan and Balong to prevent retaliatory attacks by remaining elements of Dawlah Islamiya and the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters.

Authorities identified six of the deceased as Mumin Haron, Haymin Taib, Dagkungan Musa, Norodin Baskie, Abdullah Dalimbang, and Abdulrahim Dalimbang. One fatality remains unidentified.

Military officials noted that all seven individuals had previously refused to participate in the local peace and reconciliation framework offered by the Army’s 6th Infantry Division and local government agencies.

The firefight began in Sitio Gawang, Barangay Manaulanan, when armed suspects opened fire on approaching joint police and military units executing law enforcement operations.

The engagement expanded into surrounding agricultural sectors before security forces contained the position.

Intelligence reports indicate that surviving elements of both groups remain under the leadership of Mama Lilah Tanageb, Zoria Mulod, and Theng Saddam, all of whom have active arrest warrants for extortion and serious violent offenses.

Tugunan Mayor Abdulbayan Abas confirmed that the joint operation was conducted in full compliance with legal protocols, while municipal authorities coordinate with military commanders to address resident concerns over potential harassment or retaliatory actions.
