Two construction workers arrested after alleged shooting in Agoo

Two construction workers were arrested after a 57-year-old driver was allegedly shot following a heated argument in Agoo, La Union, on September 20.

The victim, a married resident of Agoo, was reportedly shot at around 6:30 p.m. The incident was reported to the Agoo Municipal Police Station at about 7 p.m. by the victim’s 46-year-old brother.

Police identified the suspects as a 31-year-old man with a live-in partner and a 36-year-old married man, both construction workers and residents of Agoo.

Initial investigation showed that the suspects were aboard a “kulong-kulong” with their father and two minor children while traveling home from Caba, La Union.

Upon reaching an area near their residence, they allegedly encountered the victim, who was reportedly standing in the middle of the road while collecting bets for STL number games.

The victim was allegedly asked to move aside to allow the vehicle to pass, triggering a heated verbal exchange.

The victim then proceeded to his residence, but the suspects allegedly followed him while shouting and throwing bottles and stones.

The suspects reportedly left the area but later returned, each allegedly carrying what appeared to be homemade shotguns.

One of the suspects allegedly entered the victim’s premises, prompting the victim to approach him. A gunshot was subsequently heard, causing the victim to fall to the ground before the suspects fled.

Responding police officers found that the victim had already been brought to the La Union Medical Center for medical attention.

Meanwhile, the two suspects later voluntarily surrendered to authorities and were brought to the Agoo Municipal Police Station for documentation and appropriate police procedures.

They were subsequently referred to the medical center for examination.

Police are continuing their investigation into the incident, including the circumstances surrounding the alleged shooting and the firearms reportedly used.
