Tricycle driver arrested, P6,800 worth of suspected shabu seized in Bacarra

A 45-year-old tricycle driver was arrested after police seized 1 gram of suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, early September 21.

The suspect, who is married and a resident of Bacarra, was arrested during an operation conducted from 1:51 a.m. to 4:20 a.m. by personnel of the Bacarra Municipal Police Station, together with the Provincial Police Drug Enforcement Unit, Provincial Intelligence Unit, 1st Ilocos Norte Provincial Mobile Force Company and PDEA Ilocos Norte.

Police recovered 1 gram of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P6,800, contained in six heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets.

Also seized were P1,000 in buy-bust money, an open transparent plastic sachet, two weighing scales, two glass tooters, a black pouch, three lighters, a roll of aluminum foil and P350 in cash in various denominations.

The seized items were inventoried and marked at the scene in the presence of the suspect and mandatory witnesses, as required by law.

The suspect is set to face charges for alleged violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
