Suspect nabbed, P26,860 shabu seized in Bantay

Police arrested a 43-year-old man and seized 3.95 grams of suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation in Bantay, Ilocos Sur, on September 20.

The operation was conducted from 3:40 p.m. to 5 p.m. by personnel of the Bantay Municipal Police Station, Ilocos Sur Provincial Intelligence Unit, Ilocos Sur Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit and Ilocos Sur Provincial Mobile Force Company, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 1.

The suspect, identified as a married man and resident of Vigan City, was arrested after allegedly selling suspected shabu to an undercover police officer.

Police recovered five heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing a total of 3.95 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P26,860.

Also seized were P1,000 in buy-bust money, a pink Samsung A04 cellphone, a Keeway 125 motorcycle bearing plate number Q5834B, a piece of white tissue paper and a piece of white paper reportedly used as wrappers.

Authorities said the seized items were inventoried and marked at the scene in the presence of the suspect and mandatory witnesses, in accordance with legal requirements.

The suspect is set to face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
