Lisa cheers scholars

First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos made the Foundation for Liberty and Prosperity (FLP) awarding ceremony extra special when she graced the event recently at the Manila Polo Club.

Founded in 2011, FLP was established to propagate the philosophy of “safeguarding liberty and nurturing prosperity under the rule of law” of Chief Justice Artemio V. Panganiban.

“Always happy to be back with the wonderful people behind the Foundation for Liberty and Prosperity — and even happier to celebrate another inspiring batch of awardees and scholars,” the First Lady wrote on her official Facebook page.

On its website, FLP states that people need both justice and jobs, freedom and food, ethics and economics, peace and development, law and business, and liberty and prosperity.

“Congratulations to all of you! Keep dreaming big and never stop finding ways to make a difference. With young legal minds like you stepping forward, our future is certainly in good hands,” Araneta- Marcos added.

FLP envisions a society that fully appreciates the necessity and practice of Liberty and Prosperity Under the Rule of Law and their essential interdependence.

Its mission is to initiate, organize, maintain, and support projects that promote and facilitate the protection of liberty and the pursuit of prosperity under the rule of law.

FLP also provides scholarships to students pursuing careers as barristers. 

In partnership with the Tan Yan Kee Foundation and in cooperation with the Philippine Association of Law Schools, FLP offers a highly competitive, merit-based scholarship to third- and fourth-year law students.

Since its inception in 2016, the Tan Yan Kee Foundation has awarded annual scholarship grants of P200,000 to each scholar.

The grant was increased to P250,000 per scholar in Academic Year 2024-2025. As of Academic Year 2024–2025, 106 scholars have benefited from the FLP program.
