Angela Ken finds her voice on stage
The Kapamilya artist first gained widespread attention in 2021 with the breakout hit 'Ako Naman Muna,' which has amassed more than 70 million streams on Spotify.
Angela Ken believes every performance is a chance to remind people that they are not alone.
The singer-songwriter said the most fulfilling part of performing is seeing audiences respond in real time, knowing that her music has reached them in a meaningful way.
“That fulfills my heart kasi ’yun po ’yung purpose ng ginagawa ko is for them to know na they are not alone and at the same time we are here for a reason. Our voices are instruments for those people na hindi naririnig ’yung boses nila (That fulfills my heart, because the purpose of what I do is for them to know they aren't alone, and at the same time, to show that we are here for a reason. Our voices serve as instruments for those whose voices go unheard),” Angela said during the Spotlight press conference.
The Kapamilya artist first gained widespread attention in 2021 with the breakout hit “Ako Naman Muna,” which has amassed more than 70 million streams on Spotify. She followed it up with her self-titled debut album in 2022, featuring songs such as “Akala Maling Akala” and “It’s Okay Not to Be Okay.” She has since expanded her discography with singles including “Pwede Bang Mamaya?” and “Alas-Diyes,” further establishing herself as one of the country’s promising singer-songwriters.
Most recently, her song “Baka Bukas” earned a spot in Spotify Editors’ Picks: Best OPM Songs of the Year So Far, marking another career milestone.
Angela is also set to release a new single, “Tayo Lang,” on 25 September. She teased the upcoming track on social media with a verse that reads: “Sa kada araw na lumipas, mas nahuhulog ang aking nararamdaman sa’yo… Ako’y susugal, dahil ika’y mahal. Wala nang pero pero… walang iba kundi tayo — tayo lang.”
Another major milestone awaits the singer-songwriter as she headlines her first solo concert, Panahon na Natin, on 18 October at the New Frontier Theater. The concert marks Angela’s biggest solo show to date, bringing together the songs that have defined her career while introducing audiences to the next chapter of her musical journey.
"We want it to be memorable — in a way that takes them by surprise. We all know that attending concerts serves as an escape; it allows us to step away from reality for a couple of hours and set aside the challenges we face in life," Angela said.
