Benedix Ramos, Omar Uddin write next chapters on their notebook

Benedix Ramos believes the strongest moments in theater are often the ones no one expects.

Rather than chasing a flawless performance, the actor said performers should stay open to whatever unfolds onstage instead of relying solely on what was practiced during rehearsals.

“In order for you to prepare yourself, you have to be open talaga eh. You don’t really have to stick to what you have written in your notes, what you have rehearsed. It’s the surprise on stage that you allow in order for you to feel the ground, to feel the moment,” Benedix said in a recent Spotlight Star Magic press conference.

He added that those unexpected moments help actors stay connected to their characters and make every performance feel fresh.

Meanwhile, The Notebook: The Musical has given Omar Uddin a glimpse of where he hopes his theater career will lead.

In the musical, he played Johnny, a physical therapist. Omar said he hopes to return to the production years from now to portray an older, middle-aged version of Noah.

“Ngayong nasa The Notebook na ako, I would want to play middle Noah or older Noah, give me like 20 to 30 years,” he said.

The experience has also made him think about the kinds of roles he hopes to take on as he grows as an actor.
