Smart scanners help clinics digitize patient records
Epson Philippines is promoting scanning and inkjet printing systems designed to reduce paperwork and support the shift to electronic medical records in hospitals and clinics.
As government policies encourage health facilities to centralize patient information, providers face the challenge of digitizing records without disrupting daily operations.
Epson said its WorkForce DS-790WN scanner can process up to 45 pages per minute and send patient charts, laboratory results and identification cards directly to network folders or cloud databases without a dedicated computer.
For prescriptions, medical certificates and other printed documents, the EcoTank L15160 uses water-resistant pigment ink and can print up to 7,500 black pages per ink set.
The company said its WorkForce Enterprise and WorkForce Pro inkjet copiers use up to 85 percent less electricity than traditional laser copiers and can reduce replacement-part waste by as much as 59 percent.
Epson cited Germany’s Diabetes Clinic Bad Mergentheim, which serves more than 20,000 patients annually, as an example of a health facility using business inkjet printers to reduce external printing costs and manage power consumption.
“Technology in healthcare should serve the people providing the care our doctors, nurses, healthcare staff, and hospital administrators,” said Noelle Gonzalez, Epson Philippines head of marketing.
