BI deports 4 Japanese ‘fraudsters’

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) deported four Japanese nationals last Tuesday for immigration violations and outstanding criminal warrants in Japan, officials reported Wednesday.

Immigration authorities identified two of the deportees as Oi Riho and Moriyama Yu, who were classified as undocumented, overstaying, and undesirable aliens following alleged involvement in telecommunications fraud, online gaming schemes and a kidnapping-related operation.

Also deported were Daisuke Ikeno and Hamai Daisuke, who were declared undesirable aliens after being identified as fugitives wanted for theft in Japan.

The four individuals boarded a Japan Airlines flight to Narita under the custody of Japan National Police Agency personnel.

“We will continue to work closely with our international law enforcement counterparts to ensure that the Philippines will not become a haven for fugitives and foreign nationals who violate our laws,” Immigration Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said.

The agency stressed that the deportation was carried out in accordance with Philippine immigration laws and established procedures in coordination with Japanese authorities.
