Pope conveys condolences to Tagle over father’s death

The Diocese of Imus said that Tatay Manning’s remains currently lie in state at the Cases Hall of the Bishop’s Home in Imus, Cavite.

Pope Leo XIV has expressed his condolences to Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle and his family over the passing of the prelate’s father.

“Deeply saddened to learn of the death of your dear father, Manuel Tagle Sr., I offer heartfelt condolences to Your Eminence, to your beloved mother, and to the entire family,” said the pontiff in his message.

“Praying for his eternal rest, I assure my spiritual closeness to all who mourn his loss in the sure hope which draws its strength from the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ,” he added.

With this, Pope Leo XIV said he has imparted his apostolic blessing as a pledge of consolation and peace. The Cardinal is currently the pro-prefect of the Vatican’s Dicastery for Evangelization.

Tagle’s father, known as Tatay Manning, died last 6 September at the age of 96.

The Diocese of Imus said that Tatay Manning’s remains currently lie in state at the Cases Hall of the Bishop’s Home in Imus, Cavite.

The diocese said a funeral Mass will be held this Thursday, 10 September.
