Nartatez vows to maximize funds to improve police stations, other facilities

Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief, Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. on Tuesday assured the public that funds allocated for infrastructure projects will be properly utilized to strengthen police services nationwide.

“Police stations serve as the frontline of PNP services to the Filipino people, and we are committed to ensuring that all our facilities are accessible and presentable at all times as a symbol of the kind of service and protection that we deliver,” Nartatez said.

He added that this is in line with the directive of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos, Jr. and DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla to ensure that the public is provided with better police services and that government resources are properly utilized to improve the delivery of public service.

The proposed PNP budget for 2027 amounts to P242.53 billion, higher than the P226.55 billion allocated this year. It includes P2 billion for the Capability Enhancement Program covering mobility, communications, firepower, and anti-terrorism equipment; P3.12 billion for information and communications technology; and P1.499 billion for infrastructure projects. Nartatez said assessment of police stations and other facilities are ongoing, especially amid the adverse effects of the tropical cyclones and heavy rains that hit the country in the past weeks.

Procurement for the move, shoot and communicate capabilities are consistently being prioritized as part of the efforts to improve the services and professionalize the country’s police force.

The assessment will guide the allocation of resources for police stations that require construction, repair, or improvement to ensure that police personnel have facilities that can support their duties and allow them to provide better services to communities. Nartatez said the budget allocations would also help the PNP raise the standard of its facilities as the organization seeks to keep pace with police forces in other countries.
