‘Marcy’ pleads not guilty to sexual assault raps

Marikina 1st District Representative Marcy Teodoro pleaded not guilty Tuesday to four counts of sexual assault filed against him, according to his legal counsel.

“Of course, he pleaded not guilty,” Attorney Alma Mallonga said following Teodoro’s appearance at the Marikina Justice Hall for his arraignment and pre-trial hearing.

The charges stem from complaints filed last year by two female police officers previously assigned as close-in security details for Teodoro and his wife, Marikina City Mayor Maan Teodoro.

The Department of Justice (DoJ) formally filed the sexual assault cases in August

“Congressman Teodoro will abide in the process and we trust in the process,” Mallonga added, noting that trial proceedings are scheduled to begin later this September.

Ahead of the arraignment, Teodoro filed perjury complaints Monday against the two accusers before the Manila Office of the City Prosecutor.
