Man nabbed over motorcycle theft, drugs in Parañaque

A 39-year-old man was arrested in Parañaque City early Tuesday, 8 September, for alleged carnapping and illegal drug possession, the Southern Police District said.

Police identified the suspect as alias Melvin, 39, unemployed and a resident of Parañaque City.

Based on the initial investigation, the victim, alias Androu, 27, was selling fruits along Russia Street in Barangay Don Bosco when he parked his white Honda Click motorcycle in front of his stall.

A few minutes later, he discovered that the motorcycle was missing.

The victim, together with his brother and a witness, searched the area and allegedly spotted the suspect about 100 meters away pushing the motorcycle.

They restrained him and sought police assistance.

Personnel from Don Bosco Sub-Station 6 responded and placed the suspect under arrest after verifying the circumstances.

Police said they recovered from the suspect a heat-sealed sachet containing suspected shabu weighing about 0.5 gram, with an estimated standard drug price of P3,400.

Also recovered were the motorcycle and an improvised key.

The suspect and recovered items were turned over to the Station Drug Enforcement Unit of Parañaque City Police Station 3 for further investigation and proper disposition.

He faces possible charges for violation of Republic Act 10883, or the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016, and Section 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
