Korean fraudster falls

Immigration agents arrested a South Korean fugitive wanted for fraud in his home country and apprehended another undocumented Korean national during an operation in Makati City, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) announced.

Members of the bureau's Fugitive Search Unit arrested 65-year-old Son Jongin at a residential area in Barangay Comembo.

According to immigration records, the South Korean government notified Philippine authorities that the Nonsan Branch of the Daejeon District Court issued an arrest warrant for Son in 2020 on fraud charges.

Officials said Son was overstaying and undocumented in the Philippines, making him a fugitive from justice who posed a risk to public safety.
