High-level meeting on rising sea

The High-Level Meeting on Sea-Level Rise on 24 September 2026 is a one-day, heads-of-state-level plenary of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York, convened to galvanize political action on accelerating sea-level rise and to adopt a concise, action-oriented, intergovernmentally negotiated political declaration. Participants will work towards developing comprehensive solutions and actionable commitments to combat sea-level rise, ensuring a resilient and sustainable future including for small island developing states and low-lying coastal areas.
