Female fugitives apprehended

Authorities arrested two Filipino women wanted for multiple financial crimes upon their arrival at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 on Saturday, law enforcement officials said.

The Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group–Anti-Transnational Crimes Unit (CIDG-ATCU) coordinated with immigration officers and airline staff to intercept the suspects, who arrived on a flight from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Officers took the women into custody at the arrival area after immigration processing.

The joint operation involved personnel from the airport police, CIDG-ATCU, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and the Philippine Center on Transnational Crime/Interpol National Central Bureau.

The suspects face multiple arrest warrants for estafa, syndicated estafa, violations of the Securities Regulation Code, and bouncing check law violations.

While courts recommended bail for several charges, multiple cases filed in Batangas City carried no bail.
