SM aids 300 flood-hit families

Due to heavy rains brought by the southwest monsoon and recent tropical storms, SM City San Fernando Downtown activated its Operation Tulong Express (OPTE) to provide relief to 300 families affected by flooding in the city.

In partnership with SM Markets and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Pampanga, the mall distributed Kalinga Packs containing food and other essential items to residents of Barangays Santo Niño (Sapa) and Santo Tomas in San Fernando City.

The relief operation was coordinated with the DSWD to ensure timely assistance reached families in need.

OPTE is SM Foundation’s disaster response program, serving as a rapid first responder that provides immediate relief to communities affected by natural calamities, health crises and other emergencies.

“Despite the challenges brought by the recent flooding, SM City San Fernando Downtown remains committed to supporting the communities it serves, working hand in hand with partners and local stakeholders to bring timely assistance and help families recover during difficult times,” PR manager Venus Magsino said.
