TD Pilandok forms east of Luzon, remains far from land

Tropical Depression Pilandok has formed over the Philippine Sea, east of extreme Northern Luzon, PAGASA reported at 11 a.m. on 30 August 2026.

Pilandok was located about 1,225 kilometers east of Extreme Northern Luzon, packing maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h and gustiness of up to 55 km/h. It was moving west-northwestward at 15 km/h.

No Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal is currently raised. PAGASA said Pilandok is unlikely to make landfall in the Philippines and is expected to remain far from the country.

However, the enhanced Southwest Monsoon or Habagat continues to bring strong to gale-force gusts across much of the country, while rough seas of up to 3.5 meters are expected in parts of Northern and Western Luzon.

PAGASA advised the public, particularly those in hazard-prone areas and small-craft operators, to remain alert and follow local authorities’ instructions.
