Justus Kelley turns Miss USA win into message for women

Justus Kelley did more than compete for a crown during the final moments of Miss USA 2026. She used the spotlight to challenge long-held ideas about what women must give up in order to pursue their ambitions.

The 31-year-old Virginia representative delivered a deeply personal response when asked what she hoped her reign would communicate about women in America today.

“We are celebrating the 75th anniversary of Miss USA, but we also have an opportunity to make history tonight,” Kelley began.
