Jennica Garcia stresses professionalism and preparation on set

For Jennica Garcia, stepping in front of the camera comes with a responsibility that goes beyond simply showing up for work.

The actress recently opened up about one work habit that bothers her—seeing fellow performers arrive on set without being fully prepared for their scenes.

During her guest appearance on “Think Talk Tea,” Jennica shared that she places great importance on knowing the material before filming begins. For her, actors should respect not only their craft but also the production and the people working alongside them.

“Parang in my mind, tayo yung may pinakamalaking sinasahod dito… Patunayan naman natin sa kanila na sapat yung binabayad nila sa atin,” she said.

Jennica acknowledged that social media has become part of everyday life, even for celebrities. While she sees nothing wrong with creating TikTok videos or enjoying downtime, she believes work should remain the priority once an actor is on set.

“Wala namang masama pero if we’re on the set, we’re on the set. Do you get me?” she explained.

What particularly disappoints her is encountering aspiring or working actors who say they are serious about the profession but are not seen studying their scripts.

“Medyo bothered talaga ako by it. Wala naman akong kino-call out. But at the same time, it’s sad because when you ask these people, they really want to be an actor, how come I don’t see you with your script?” Jennica said.

Rather than singling anyone out, the actress turned her observation into advice for those hoping to build a lasting career in show business. She stressed that preparation is essential because knowing the script allows a performer to move beyond memorization and focus on bringing truth and emotion to a scene.

“Lines are not placed in the mind for you to remember. Lines are placed in the heart for you to feel. And then pag sinabing action, BUGA!” she shared.

For Jennica, acting demands discipline, focus and respect for the opportunity given to a performer. Talent may open doors, but once the cameras start rolling, being ready to deliver is part of the job.
