Aryan Simhadri looks beyond Camp Half-Blood

Aryan Simhadri is already thinking beyond the upcoming third season of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians.”

While promoting the new season at D23, the actor admitted he would love to keep portraying Grover Underwood if the Disney+ series eventually expands into Rick Riordan’s Heroes of Olympus books.

Although his immediate focus remains season three, Simhadri said he is excited by the possibility of continuing the franchise if the opportunity comes.

“If we’re lucky enough and like the stars align, and we get to do Heroes of Olympus, first we have to finish this, which is also awesome. But I would totally like you know, get SPQR tattoo. I feel like just go for it.”

Before thinking about future adventures, however, Simhadri said viewers still have plenty to look forward to in season three, particularly the evolution of Grover and Percy Jackson’s friendship.

“One of the things I’m most excited for people to see this season is we get to like spend a lot more time with them, just talking as like friends because you know their kind of mentorship dynamic changes now that Percy’s really coming into his own,” he said.

To make the relationship feel authentic, Simhadri and Walker Scobell spent time rehearsing together between shoots.

“We like lived right next to each other, and so what we would do a lot of the times is we would just run our scenes together, and we would like just improv and like cut each other off, and we’d go to the gym and run them, and we would just run them as if we were actually talking.

“I’m most excited for people to see is how that dynamic kind of kind of grows. It’s more like more like our actual dynamic now,” he added.

Weighing the strongest demigod, finding family

Simhadri also shared his thoughts on one of the franchise’s biggest fan debates: Who deserves the title of strongest demigod.

He argued that Thalia, daughter of Zeus, is more versatile because of her powers, while Nico di Angelo, son of Hades, could ultimately surpass Percy Jackson, son of Poseidon, once he reaches his full potential.

Simhadri also reflected on working with the cast, saying the friendships formed behind the scenes mirror the bonds audiences see on screen.

“It’s honestly harder to do scenes where you’re like having a good time than when you’re having a bad time. That’s why I feel like we had the most fun. It’s like when we were screaming each other’s faces all day.

“The same way that Leah, Ari, and I like built our relationship. You just like you’re filming with these people every single day, and you just kind of you get really close. You all become like siblings,” he said.
