Marina eyes new regional satellite office

The Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) and the municipal government of San Agustin town in Romblon province signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a Marina satellite office in Romblon province.

Marina Administrator Sonia B. Malaluan and San Agustin Mayor Aaron C. Madrona signed the agreement alongside Rep. Eleandro Jesus F. Madrona of the province's lone district.

"We anchor our service through partnerships," Malaluan said during the signing ceremony.

The new satellite facility is scheduled to open in September, bringing maritime regulatory services directly to vessel owners, operators, seafarers, and passengers in San Agustin and nearby coastal towns.

Local officials said the office will eliminate the need for island stakeholders to travel long distances to access agency services, while improving regulatory compliance and maritime safety in the region.
