Hand grenade discovery prompts Chinese national’s arrest
A search of unattended items in the room yielded a heat-sealed plastic sachet of suspected shabu, two light-brown tablets suspected to be ecstasy and identification photos of Lin.
Police arrested a 38-year-old Chinese national after finding a hand grenade, an unlicensed handgun, suspected illegal drugs, and a bladed weapon in two rental units in Barangay Palanan in Makati City.
Authorities identified the suspect by the alias Lin, a resident of Parañaque City.
The incident began around 4:55 p.m. when management of the rental unit reported finding an unexploded green Mk2 hand fragmentation grenade in Unit 403, which Lin had rented with his live-in partner.
Responding officers from Palanan Police Sub-Station 2 secured the building while an Explosive Ordnance Disposal team safely neutralized the grenade.

After learning from the building's general manager that Lin had also rented Unit 306, police proceeded to the second room and found him inside with a 25-year-old woman.
During a search witnessed by local officials and building management, officers recovered a Springfield .45-caliber pistol with serial number XD650980, a Swiss knife, a purple sachet containing suspected shabu and a glass pipe with suspected marijuana residue.
Police are preparing charges against Lin for illegal possession of explosives under Republic Act 9516, firearms violations under Republic Act 10591.
The Chinese national will also face drug offenses under Republic Act 9165, and illegal possession of deadly weapons under Batas Pambansa Blg. 6.
