Converge, DTI plug MSMEs into AI

Filipino micro, small and medium enterprises are getting a boost in adopting artificial intelligence (AI) as Converge ICT Solutions Inc. and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) launched programs aimed at making digital tools more accessible to small businesses.

Central to the initiative is the DTI AI and Scale Up Center, a 380-square-meter facility that will provide entrepreneurs with technology, training and support to integrate AI into their operations.

Converge CEO and founder Dennis Uy said the center seeks to address infrastructure and knowledge gaps that keep MSMEs from benefiting from AI.

“Through this center, we establish infrastructure for AI readiness. That means providing the MSMEs access to the data ecosystem,” Uy said.

He urged entrepreneurs to embrace the technology: “Do not be afraid of AI.”

DTI Assistant Secretary Nylah Rizza D. Bautista said the center will support businesses that lack the tools, knowledge and resources to begin adopting AI.
