Provincial government inspects damaged portion of Bucao River dike

The Zambales provincial government inspected and began repair work on a damaged portion of the Bucao River dike in Botolan on 10 August after strong floodwaters brought by the southwest monsoon eroded part of the structure.

Governor Hermogenes E. Ebdane Jr., Botolan Mayor Jun Omar Ebdane, and provincial and municipal engineers inspected the affected area and assessed the condition of the dike.

Heavy equipment was deployed, while crews conducted sandbagging and other ground works to reinforce and repair the damaged section.

Engineers said the damage had little to no immediate impact on residents living near the area.

Authorities advised communities along the Bucao River to remain vigilant and prepared for possible flooding and other hazards as heavy rains continue.

“Patuloy ang Pamahalaang Panlalawigan ng Zambales sa agarang pagtugon sa mga hamon at pangangailangan ng bawat bayan sa ating lalawigan. Mag-ingat po tayong lahat,” Ebdane said.

The Bucao River is a major waterway in Botolan that flows from the Zambales Mountain Range westward toward the West Philippine Sea.
