209 evacuees get health services

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) provided hot meals, health services and relief supplies to 209 evacuees in Camiling, Tarlac, on Sunday as severe monsoon flooding forced families from their homes.

Displaced residents from Barangays Cacamilingan Sur and Poblacion G — comprising 52 families — are taking shelter at the Camiling Sports Complex Evacuation Center after heavy rainfall brought by the enhanced southwest monsoon caused the Camiling River to overflow its banks.

Response teams from the Red Cross Tarlac Chapter’s Welfare and Health Services units served 209 hot meals, distributed 252 loaves of bread, and provided 52 packs of coffee to affected residents.

Medical personnel delivered health lectures on preventing waterborne diseases, including dengue and leptospirosis, distributing informational materials to all 209 evacuees.

The team also provided vitamins to 52 individuals and over-the-counter medications to 19 residents.

Meantime, the municipality of Camiling remains under red alert status and an orange rainfall warning as severe flooding continues across low-lying areas, prompting authorities to enforce mandatory evacuations.
