Awra Briguela opens up on toll of online bashing

Behind Awra Briguela’s efforts to rebuild her life is a struggle that continues to follow her online.

The actor and social media personality became emotional as she opened up about the relentless criticism she has received, admitting that there have been days when the negativity has made her want to stop trying altogether.

During an interview with Boy Abunda on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, Awra spoke candidly about how deeply the comments have affected her, even as she continues her studies and works toward becoming a better version of herself.

“Alam po ’to ng mga kapatid ko and even ni Mama. Kahit ano po kasing try ko talaga after nung nangyari, Tito Boy, isang taon bago ako uli humarap sa tao, bago ko i-continue ’yung pag-aaral ko,” she shared.

Awra was referring to the difficult period she went through following the controversy that surrounded her in 2023. She said she stayed away from the public eye for about a year before finding the courage to move forward with her life and education.

But returning to school did not mean the criticism disappeared.

“Hanggang sa maka-graduate ako ng Senior High School, may nasasabi pa rin ’yung mga tao sa’kin,” Awra said.

Now in college, she admitted that the continued negativity can sometimes become overwhelming.

“Up until now po na nag-aaral ako lalo na ngayong college, araw-araw po ayoko na po talaga,” she confessed.

For Awra, however, walking away is not that simple. Whenever she feels like giving up, she thinks about the family members who remained beside her during one of the most challenging periods of her young life.

“Pero ang iniisip ko po kasi, ’yung mga kapatid ko, ’yung parents ko, na ’yung hindi ako sinukuan, na ’yung lumalaban para sa’kin. Sila po ’yung nagiging motivation ko,” she said.

Awra then made a painful admission about how she might have responded to everything had she been facing the situation alone.

“Pero kung ako lang po, Tito Boy, ayoko na talaga kasi wala eh, kahit ano naman pong gawin ko parang wala lang po eh.”

Despite the hurt, Awra said she hopes people will remember how young she was when the controversy that changed the course of her career happened.

“Gusto ko lang pong ma-realize ng mga tao at ipaalala sa kanila na I was just a kid, I was just a teenager, 19 years old lang po ako nung nangyari dati,” she explained.

Rather than claiming that she has everything figured out, Awra said she is still learning from what she has experienced and trying to improve one day at a time.

“So lahat po ng pinagdaanan ko na ’yon, sobrang bata ko lang po at hanggang ngayon po, Tito Boy, tina-try ko pong maging better every day.”

For Awra, moving forward has become a daily choice—one fueled not only by her own determination, but also by the family that continued to believe in her when public judgment became difficult to bear.
