A day at the ranch

Few animals inspire the admiration and respect that horses do. With their grace, power and noble presence, they have a timeless appeal that captivates people from every walk of life. For many, that fascination grows into a lifelong passion, one that goes far beyond simply riding. Sharing that freedom and connection with such a magnificent animal is a joy unlike any other.

It was this shared passion that brought together a group of horse enthusiasts to establish the Visayas Horsemen Association in 2012. What began as a small circle of friends has steadily grown into a thriving organization, with more members joining through the years.

Along with its growing membership comes a full calendar of activities, from trail rides to fellowship gatherings that celebrate horsemanship and the camaraderie among riders.

One such event that brought members together was a recent trail ride at the Horse Riding Club in Tuburan, owned and managed by brothers Rodrigo Felipe and Rafael Jose Vista. Their well-trained horses and carefully-chosen trails have made the ranch a favorite among riders to spend a day outdoors, to enjoy both the scenic routes and the shared experience of riding as a group.

More than just a place to ride, the ranch gives visitors a chance to disconnect from the rush of everyday life and enjoy the simple pleasures of being surrounded by nature.

Club president Eduard Loop remains steadfast in his commitment of promoting Western horsemanship and responsible horse ownership in the Philippines. Through his leadership, he continues to encourage proper riding techniques, ethical treatment of horses and a culture of safety, discipline and respect among riders. His dedication is driven by a genuine desire to cultivate a community of horse enthusiasts who value both the sport and their horses’ welfare.

Filipinos are discovering that horsemanship is not just about riding; it is about building trust, responsibility and a lasting partnership between horse and rider.
