Ryan Gosling is the next actor to take on the role of Ghost Rider.

Marvel Studios made the surprise announcement last week, revealing that the Oscar-nominated actor will headline the upcoming Ghost Rider film. The movie will be directed by Shawn Levy, who previously helmed Marvel’s blockbuster Deadpool & Wolverine.

Marvel Studios also shared the news on social media with the caption, “Ghost Rider enters the MCU,” alongside footage of Gosling appearing before fans at Comic-Con.

While plot details, supporting cast and a release date have yet to be announced, the reveal marks the long-awaited introduction of Ghost Rider into the MCU as a standalone feature.
