Jennie bares softer side in ‘Less than a Lover’

Blackpink’s Jennie is embracing a more delicate sound with the release of her new solo single, “Less than a Lover,” accompanied by a dreamy music video that explores the uncertainty of a relationship caught between friendship and romance.

Released through ODDATELIER and Columbia Records, the alternative-pop track sees the global star trade her signature high-energy anthems for lo-fi guitar melodies, vintage keyboard arrangements and introspective lyrics. Written by JENNIE herself, the song captures the excitement and emotional ambiguity of a connection that defies labels.

The accompanying music video, based on a story conceived by the singer, follows JENNIE as she slips into different versions of herself while filming a short movie with friends. As the fictional romance unfolds, it gradually changes the dynamics among the group, blurring the line between acting and reality.

Fans first got a preview of “Less than a Lover” during Jennie’s headline performance at Governors Ball in June. Since then, she has continued her festival run with appearances at Mad Cool, Open’er and Roskilde, earning praise for her solo performances.

The singer is set to continue her global festival tour as a headliner at Lollapalooza Chicago before making her Summer Sonic Festival debut in Japan.
