Veteran singer Joey Albert reflected on the life-changing lessons she learned from her battle with cancer, sharing that the experience taught her the importance of loving herself and finding purpose even in life’s greatest struggles.

Looking back on her health journey, Albert said her diagnosis became a turning point that changed how she viewed herself and the challenges she faced.

“No’ng nagka-cancer na ko, parang that’s when I realized kailangan matuto akong mahalin sarili ko na pag wala ako, wala rin naman akong magagawa para sa iba,” she said.

The OPM icon explained that surviving cancer also gave her a deeper appreciation for suffering, seeing it not as a burden but as an opportunity to inspire and uplift others.

“Ang tinuro sa akin, ’yong mga paghihirap natin, puwede nating gawing mga tulay—stepping stones—para ipagdasal ang ibang tao. Kasi ’yon ’yong pinakamahalagang maaalay natin sa Panginoon,” she shared.

Albert added that pain and sacrifice can take on a greater meaning when they are offered with faith and compassion.

“’Yong pain, sacrifice is the most beautiful gift we can offer to God for other people,” she said.

Her heartfelt reflection serves as a reminder that even life’s most difficult trials can lead to personal growth, renewed faith, and a deeper commitment to caring for both oneself and others.
