Logico named new PMA chief

The Philippine Military Academy (PMA) has a new superintendent in Lt. Gen. Michael Logico, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief Gen. Antonio Nafarrete said on Thursday.

He replaced Vice Adm. Caesar Valencia, who retired after more than four decades of dedicated service.

Logico assumed as the 86th Superintendent of the PMA during the Change of Command Ceremony held at Fort General Gregorio H. Del Pilar, Baguio City.

In his assumption remarks, Logico paid tribute to his predecessor, acknowledging that Valencia “faithfully discharged the solemn responsibility entrusted to him” and expressing his commitment to continue the work already begun. 

He emphasized that the Academy must prepare officers not for the wars of the past, but for the evolving character of modern warfare.

“We cannot prepare for yesterday’s war. We must prepare for the next one.” He likewise underscored his vision of cultivating a culture of continuous innovation while preserving the Academy’s enduring traditions, adding, “Our traditions remain important, but tradition must never become an obstacle to excellence,” Logico said.
