Drug ops net 3 individuals

Three individuals were arrested in separate anti-illegal drugs operations in La Union, where police seized about two grams of suspected illegal drugs with an estimated street value of P13,600.

In the first operation, personnel of the City of San Fernando Police Station arrested a 37-year-old unemployed man known only by the alias "Bossing" during a buy-bust operation on 15 July.

Conducted in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office 1 and other police units, the operation resulted in the seizure of about one gram of suspected illegal drugs packed in three heat-sealed plastic sachets.

Police also recovered a red cigarette, a piece of white paper, a Samsung Galaxy A12 mobile phone, a Honda Click motorcycle, one genuine P500 bill, and one fake P1,000 bill allegedly used in the transaction.

In a separate buy-bust operation before dawn on July 16 in Tubao, police arrested two male residents, aged 23 and 31.

Authorities seized another gram of suspected illegal drugs contained in three heat-sealed plastic sachets with an estimated street value of P6,800. A Vivo mobile phone and a genuine P1,000 bill used as marked money were also recovered.

Police said the inventory and marking of the seized evidence in both operations were conducted at the scene in the presence of the suspects and the required witnesses in accordance with the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.

The arrested suspects are expected to face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
