AboitizPower private groups among top Limay importers
GNPower Dinginin Ltd. Co., and GNPower Mariveles Energy Center Ltd. Co. are private limited partnerships. Aboitiz Power Corporation has a 70 percent effective partnership interest in GNPD and a 78.3 percent effective partnership interest in GMEC.
LIMAY, Bataan — The Bureau of Customs (BoC) hailed AboitizPower private limited partnerships GNPower Dinginin (GNPD) and GNPower Mariveles Energy Center (GMEC) as among the top importers of the Port of Limay for 2024.
GMEC and GNPD are two massive coal-fired power plants in Mariveles, Bataan. Jointly managed by AboitizPower, they supply the Luzon and Visayas grids with a combined capacity of nearly 2,000 megawatts (MW).
Biggest importers
These two companies are among the biggest Philippine importers, regularly bringing in large amounts of coal, primarily from Indonesia, to generate electricity. These goods are cleared through the Bureau of Customs (BoC) Port of Limay.
The two companies placed fourth and seventh among the top 15 importers presented during BoC-Limay’s 17th anniversary celebration at the Manila Prince Hotel.
According to AboitizPower Transition Business Group SAVP for Fuel Management Rene Katigbak, the event recognized organizations that made significant contributions to trade facilitation and government revenue.
Growth and economic development
“Our advocacy towards growth and economic development in the Philippines, through the delivery of safe, reliable and cost-efficient power supply, is not without the help of our partners from the Bureau of Customs,” Katigbak said.
“BoC’s collaboration with our operations, particularly for the timely processing and release of our imports, makes it possible for us to protect and sustain the fuel required to keep our plants running and generate the megawatts needed by the Luzon and Visayas grids,” he added.
“We proudly accept this honor given to us by the esteemed bureau and take pride in being recognized as a company that works with integrity and responsibility through compliance with its regulatory obligations by the higher governing bodies,” Katigbak said.
