DoLE, IT-BPM industry reinforce ties

Labor Secretary Francis Tolentino welcomed leaders from the country’s information technology and business process management sector to a department gathering, stressing the need for continued collaboration between the government and the tech industry.

During the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DoLE) weekly flag-raising ceremony in Intramuros, Kenneth Chua, an attorney and legislative committee member of the Information Technology and Business Process Association of the Philippines, praised the agency’s collaborative approach to labor policies.

“What we have with DoLE goes beyond a formal relationship. It is a real working partnership,” Chua said.

“It’s not just about policies, it’s about how those policies are shaped through dialogue, consultation, and real willingness to listen to different perspectives,” he added.

Chua stressed that tripartite cooperation — involving government, employers and workers — is essential as technological shifts reshape the business sector.

The approach “allows businesses to grow while ensuring workers are protected,” Chua added. “It helps us respond to change not just quickly, but responsibly.”
