3 inmates escape from Northern Samar jail

Three inmates, including two facing murder charges, escaped from the Northern Samar Provincial Jail in Bobon, Philippines, on July 1. TACLOBAN CITY — Three persons deprived of liberty (PDLs), two of whom are facing murder charges, escaped from the Northern Samar Provincial Jail in Bobon town on Wednesday, 1 July.

The Bobon Municipal Police Station (MPS) identified the escapees as Sonny Montaño, 31, who is charged with murder and frustrated murder; Marlon Unay, 28, who is facing a murder charge; and Eldefonso Jagnoy, 58, who is charged with rape.

The Bobon MPS has launched a manhunt operation for the recapture of the three escapees.

Authorities have yet to release further details on how the inmates managed to flee the facility.
