The The provincial government has begun the distribution of P500 worth of free fuel to driver-members of the Bulacan Federation of Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association, Inc. (BFJODA) in the province of Bulacan on Monday, 30 March.
Gov. Daniel R. Fernando said the distribution is through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) in response to the continuous rice of fuel prices.
On its initial rollout, a total of 500 jeepney drivers from the Cities of Malolos and Baliwag, and Municipalities of Plaridel, Pulilan, and Santa Maria received free gasoline from Fernando’s own pocket.
“Sa gitna ng patuloy na pagtaas ng presyo ng langis, mahalagang matulungan natin ang ating mga drayber na patuloy na nagsisilbi sa ating mga kababayan. Ang maliit na tulong na ito ay para maibsan ang kanilang gastusin at masuportahan ang kanilang kabuhayan,” the governor said.
The activity marks the initial phase of the fuel subsidy program, which aims to provide immediate relief to transport workers affected by rising petroleum product prices, and the distribution is expected to continue in the coming days to reach more beneficiaries within the transport sector.
