The Philippine Army's 89th Infantry (Makatao) Battalion, under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel Antonio G. Bulao I, successfully recovered cache items during an intelligence-driven operation conducted at the barangays of Kipaypayon and Mahayag, Quezon, Bukidnon on 27 March 2026.
According to the report, the recovered items include firearms such as two M79 grenade launchers, two KG9 submachine guns, three improvised shotguns, one pistol-type shotgun, one caliber .45 pistol, four .357 revolvers, one .38 revolver, one .38 pistol-type firearm, and one .22 caliber pistol.
Other items seized included two improvised explosive devices (IEDs), one hand grenade, two unserviceable Baofeng radios, subversive documents, several rounds of ammunition, and various firearm parts.
All recovered items were safely secured and transported to the unit headquarters for proper disposition.
The success of the operation relied heavily on the timely information and cooperation provided by local residents. Their active involvement in promoting an insurgency-free society by preventing the use of terrorist weapons and disrupting insurgency-related threats is essential in protecting the well-being and harmony of their communities.
