CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Authorities in Northern Mindanao uprooted an estimated 1,000 fully grown marijuana plants in a remote area of Cabanglasan town, Bukidnon, on Saturday.
Police Brig. Gen. Christphr Abrahano, Regional Police Director, reported that personnel from the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 10 (RPDEU 10), in coordination with the Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs Unit (RID 10), Bukidnon Provincial Intelligence Unit tracker team, Bukidnon Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, Cabanglasan Municipal Police Station, PDEA Bukidnon Provincial Office, and various military units, carried out the operation.
The plantation was allegedly owned by a local known as “Boy,” who remains at large. The recovered marijuana plants, each roughly five feet tall, had an estimated market value of P200,000.
All plants were immediately destroyed and burned on-site. Substantial samples were submitted to the PNP Provincial Forensic Unit in Malaybalay City for laboratory analysis. Authorities are preparing charges under Section 16 of Republic Act 9165 for regular filing.
Abrahano lauded the operating units for their dedication:
“This successful operation demonstrates our unwavering commitment to reaching even the farthest corners of Northern Mindanao to eliminate the cultivation of illegal drugs. We remain steadfast in our mission to protect our communities from the drug menace.”
