SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union — The streets of La Union brightened up on the night of February 27, 2026, with the revived Grand Electric Float Parade.
The event featured 20 electric floats representing various local government units (LGUs), marking the return of the parade after a ten-year hiatus. The procession began at Robinsons Mall, passed through the San Fernando City Plaza, and concluded at the Francisco Ortega Convention Center.
Each float was decorated with symbols reflecting the local products, livelihoods, and identities of the participating towns. Candidates for "Mutia ti La Union 2026" also joined the parade, appearing on the floats in their respective festival costumes. The event served as a showcase of local culture and creativity.
The Municipality of Caba earned the title of Best Electric Float. In addition to the top prize, Caba received awards for Most Indigenous Float and Best Lighting Design. The Municipality of Tubao was named first runner-up, while Sudipen took second runner-up and received the award for Most Environment-Friendly Float.
La Union Governor Mario Eduardo C. Ortega, Vice Governor Eric O. Sibuma, and Congressmen Francisco Paolo P. Ortega V and Dante S. Garcia led the local officials in attendance. The leaders commended the local government units for their efforts in organizing the parade. They noted that the quality of the presentations justified the revival of the event after a decade of absence.
The parade is part of the province's celebration of its 176th founding anniversary.
