Makati Medical Center has been named among the Top 250 World’s Best Hospitals for 2026, according to the latest global ranking by Newsweek in partnership with data analytics firm Statista.

MakatiMed is one of only two hospitals from the Philippines included in the prestigious list, which evaluated more than 2,500 hospitals across 32 countries.

The World’s Best Hospitals ranking assessed institutions based on medical expert recommendations, hospital quality metrics, patient experience data, and Patient-Reported Outcome Measures. These measures reflect patients’ perceptions of their well-being and quality of life following treatment.

The 2026 edition marked the first time the Philippines was included in the global evaluation, making MakatiMed’s recognition a milestone not only for the institution but also for Philippine healthcare.

Hospital officials said the recognition underscores MakatiMed’s continued focus on patient-centered care and adherence to international standards.

The annual ranking by Newsweek and Statista is widely regarded as one of the leading global benchmarks for hospital performance. It draws on surveys of healthcare professionals, publicly available data and standardized performance indicators to compare hospitals worldwide.

MakatiMed’s inclusion places it alongside major medical institutions from North America, Europe, Asia and other regions, reinforcing its standing as one of the country’s leading tertiary hospitals.

The recognition comes amid increasing global attention on healthcare quality, patient safety and outcomes measurement, with hospitals seeking to meet international benchmarks in both clinical performance and patient experience.

With the Philippines now part of the global ranking, MakatiMed’s placement in the Top 250 highlights the growing competitiveness of local institutions on the international stage.
