After seeing his unification plans go up in smoke, World Boxing Council (WBC) minimumweight champion Melvin Jerusalem is in active rest mode while on vacation in his native Manolo Fortich in Bukidnon.
“It’s just a short break,” Jerusalem told DAILY TRIBUNE, noting that, despite being home, he continues to work out.
Jerusalem had been scheduled to battle Puerto Rican two-belt titleholder Oscar Collazo on 14 March but it was scrapped owing to promotional issues.
What made it hard for Jerusalem to accept it was the fact that Collazo would still be fighting on the same day.
Collazo, the World Boxing Organization and World Boxing Association titleholder, meets Jesus Haro of the United States.
Left without any options, Jerusalem said that he will just have to wait for Collazo to get the job done and hope talks for their unification match gets revived.
In his social media post, Jerusalem said that an announcement on his next fight is forthcoming.
