Angel Aquino capped Love Month by supporting LGBTQIA+ relationships in her latest interview.
During the premiere night of Until She Remembers, a lesbian film starring Boots Anson Roa, Charo Santos and Barbie Forteza, Aquino almost pleadingly asked the public to keep an open mind and heart when it comes to love between people of the same sex.
“It’s about time. What year is it?” she said.
For Aquino, love is genderless and should not be an issue at all.
“Para sa akin lang (For me), let’s all have open minds and open hearts. Love is love and in the end, it’s all that matters, ‘di ba? There’s really no gender when it comes to love. It’s really just two people, two spirits, two souls who have that reverence for each other,” she said.
“Bakit hindi natin pagbigyan ’yun? Bakit kailangan natin silang pigilan kung ’yun ’yung nararamdaman nila? Basta they don’t cause each other pain (Why can’t we allow it? Why do we have to stop them if that’s what they’re feeling? As long as they don’t cause each other pain),” she said.
Aquino believes that those in same-sex relationships would be happier if people understood their situation because, “If anything, tayo ’yung nagko-cause ng pain sa kanila kasi hindi natin sila pinapayagan, hindi natin sila naiintindihan (we’re the ones causing them pain because we don’t allow them and we don’t understand them).”
She said they would feel freer if people gave them more freedom.
Aquino shocked many last year when she casually disclosed something most people did not know about her.
“Oh, I don’t know, my life’s an open book. I like girls? There. Well, a lot of people are in denial — sila talaga ’yung in denial,” she unabashedly admitted.
“Wait, can I just correct that because I said I like girls. You know, that might sound — especially with social media — it might sound weird. I’m saying I also fall in love with girls and women. They might think, you know, it can sound weird if you just take it as is,” she explained.
Of late, Aquino is said to be in a happy relationship with her Batang Quiapo director, Malou Sevilla.
Not a few were surprised when she and Sevilla attended the ABS-CBN Ball last year.
Sevilla’s last romance was with Ai-Ai delas Alas.
Donny, Kyle’s action-packed duel unfolds in finale week of ‘Roja’
Donny Pangilinan and Kyle Echarri combine their heroic efforts one last time for their most epic duel amid a long-standing hostage crisis in the final three weeks of ABS-CBN’s primetime teleserye Roja.
ABS-CBN recently dropped a heart-pounding “Final Escape” trailer that gives viewers a sneak peek of the intensified fight scenes and emotional turmoil that Liam and Olsen must overcome as their principles are put to the test.
Liam (Donny) and Olsen (Kyle) will face their biggest threat yet as the war against the hostage-takers, led by Emil (Joel Torre), turns personal. Liam confronts a painful dilemma — whether to protect his mother, Greta (Lorna Tolentino), or allow justice to prevail — after confirming that she is the true mastermind behind the La Playa Roja siege.
Olsen, meanwhile, goes head-to-head in an explosive confrontation with his supposed father and hostage-taker, Homer (Christian Vasquez). Emil may finally succeed in his long-awaited quest for revenge against the Roja family when he casually shoots Liam during a heated exchange.
The high-stakes final standoff reaches greater heights as Liam and Olsen put their lives on the line, with the help of the police force, to save the remaining hostages trapped in a tunnel rigged with explosives.
