Police arrested four individuals early Sunday morning after they allegedly interfered with an anti-illegal drug operation in Barangay Damayang Lagi in Quezon City.
The incident occurred around 1:35 a.m. along Victoria Avenue. According to Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Brig. Gen. Randy Glenn Silvio, officers from Galas Police Station 11 were conducting an operation when they apprehended a man identified by the alias “Mark” for possession of illegal drugs.
Station commander Lt. Col. Virgilio Jopia said four other individuals — identified by the aliases Maria, 40; Maria Donna, 47; Angelo, 41; and Paul, 49 — intervened during the inventory of the seized evidence and attempted to block the arrest.
Despite the resistance, officers successfully took all four into custody.
A records verification revealed that two of the suspects, Maria Donna and Angelo, have history with law enforcement.
Both were previously arrested in Tarlac in 2022 for obstruction of justice. Additionally, Angelo and Maria Donna had prior cases of malicious mischief dating back to 2016 and 2022, respectively.
Silvio said the group will face charges of obstruction of justice and resistance and disobedience to an agent of a person in authority. An additional charge of direct assault will be filed against Maria Donna before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
“The QCPD emphasizes that obstruction of justice will not be tolerated,” Silvio said. “We remain committed to enforcing the law and ensuring that acts of resistance or interference are met with prompt legal action.”
